I believe in the continued use of fantasy as a tool to digest reality through play. I’m fascinated by how folklore once rationalized events like lightning, rainbows, love, death, and plagues. I draw parallels between the functions of folklore and the scientific counterparts that have come to replace it. Fueled by my deep love for nature, I incorporate personal symbology derived from my past to illuminate the sacred significance of plants and animals within human life.
I reference folklore and myth to show how in a contemporary context ancient tales take on new meanings- becoming warped reflections of society’s current needs. The metaphorical power of art allows me to understand my own anxiety around the future.

By exploring visual similarities between natural forms and anatomy, you will gain insights into character design and storytelling.
Character development and storytelling
You will learn to design characters inspired by their collected materials, integrating these elements into engaging narratives. Keeping a sketchbook will be essential for brainstorming and developing ideas, as they capture the essence of their characters and their environments, creating relatable and believable mythological figures.
Sketching techniques and composition
You will learn how to master sketching techniques, focusing on thumbnail sketches and effective composition. You will also experiment with different forms and ideas in a playful manner, utilizing perspective tools for scaling drawings. After establishing main forms, you'll add details to enhance your sketches, bringing characters and stories to life.
Painting techniques and color exploration
